Range Rover Evoque on Parade

NEW RANGE ROVER EVOQUE ON PARADE AT 2011 ROYAL WINDSOR HORSE SHOW

• The Range Rover Evoque to appear at Royal Windsor Horse Show: Evoque Coupe and 5-door will form centrepiece of Land Rover display at the major equestrian event this week (11 to 15 May).

• A major Land Rover presence at the show: Land Rover continues as main sponsor and official vehicle supplier to the show.

• Full range of Land Rover models on display: full model range presented in dedicated display area, with Land Rover Experience offering visitors the chance to be driven over an off-road course.

• Land Rover trophy: to be contested by teams in the Royal Navy Field Gun Run in the Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo (12 to 15 May). Land Rover is an associate sponsor of the evening music and fireworks spectacular.

The new Range Rover Evoque will enjoy its first formal public presentation in the UK since the beginning of the year, when it goes on display this week at the 2011 Royal Windsor Horse Show, where Land Rover will be continuing its long-established support to the Event as principle sponsor and official vehicle supplier.

Colin Green, managing director Land Rover UK said: “The Royal Windsor Horse Show is a perfect arena for Land Rover to demonstrate that the new Evoque is every bit as countryside-capable as it is street-smart. We value our long association with the show and believe it provides us with a great opportunity to bring Evoque – and its sister models in the Land Rover stable – to the attention of thousands of potential customers.”

Voted the most exciting car of 2011 by What Car?, the Range Rover Evoque Coupe and 5-door models will form the centrepiece of a dedicated Land Rover display close to the entrance to the Royal Windsor showground. They will be joined by the full Land Rover model range with Defender, Freelander 2, Discovery 4, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles all on view.

Furthermore, Land Rover Experience will be on hand to give visitors a taste of legendary Land Rover performance over a specially constructed off-road course.

In its capacity as official vehicle supplier, Land Rover will also be providing transport for officials, medics and vets throughout the show.

The Royal Windsor Horse Show is a hugely popular attraction, with more than 3,000 horses competing in showing classes, international show jumping events and the Land Rover International Driving Grand Prix. Taking place from 11 to 15 May in Windsor Castle’s Home Park, it enjoys Royal patronage, with the HM The Queen foremost among the thousands of visitors. As well as the horsemanship, the show offers a wide range of other attractions on-site, including the Royal Windsor Food and Drink Festival.

Land Rover is also an associate sponsor of the Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo, a military and music spectacular which takes place against the backdrop of the historic castle on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings of the show. This year the Company will again be providing a trophy for the famous Royal Navy Field Gun Run, which will be contested through heats each evening to a final on the Sunday night.

Range Rover Evoque

Barretts Land Rover News.
News from the Land Rover Dealers in Ashford and Canterbury, Kent.

RANGE ROVER EVOQUE WINS CAR DESIGN OF THE YEAR

The Range Rover Evoque has won best production car in the 2010 Car Design News, Car Design of the Year awards. This highly regarded accolade is the first major international award for the Range Rover Evoque, which is already shaping up to be the most exciting car of 2011.

The Evoque beat competition from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the Audi A7 to take top honors by a considerable margin. Significantly, the Car Design of the Year Award represents the opinions of automotive designers, including a number of leading industry Design Directors who sit on the judging panel.

The Award was presented to Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director at the Car Design Night, held on the opening evening of the Geneva Motor Show.

"I am delighted to accept this prestigious award on behalf of the Land Rover Design team. This is a particularly special accolade as it represents recognition from peers in the industry," said McGovern.

Car Design News Editor, Eric Gallina, who presented the Award said: "The Evoque represents the best translation from concept car to production vehicle we have seen in recent times. It's clear to see why it was chosen."

"The Evoque translates the brand identity of Range Rover to a smaller, very relevant product, without becoming retro or derivative," added Joe Simpson, Associate Editor.
To coincide with the Car Design of the Year Award, Land Rover has released a short film showing behind the scenes footage of the Evoque design process. The film gives an insight into the design inspiration for the vehicle, including designers' viewpoints on how the groundbreaking Evoque will create and conquer an entirely new sector of the market.

The film is the first in a series of four, giving an insider’s view of the Evoque development story – from initial design, through rigorous calibration and development processes to final engineering tests. The remaining three films will be released online over the coming months. The first film, which focuses on the design process, can be downloaded at www.media.helloevoque.com

The Car Design of the Year Award comes hot on the heels of several domestic accolades for Evoque including a Design Award from Czech publication 'Auto Design and Styling' and 'Best SUV of 2011' awarded by the Motor Press Editorial Group in Portugal. Earlier this year, The Range Rover Evoque was overwhelmingly voted 'Most Exciting Car of 2011' by users of Whatcar.com in the UK's annual What Car? Awards.

“The Autobiography Black represents the very best Range Rover has to offer and is a fitting tribute to a vehicle which has consistently set the highest standards for all-terrain performance, luxury and design for the last 40 years.”
Phil Popham, Land Rover Managing Director

The ultimate incarnation of the Range Rover, the Autobiography Black 40th Anniversary Limited Edition, is quite simply the last word in bespoke vehicles.

With a unique finish in Barolo Black, the exterior also features 20-inch alloy wheels, Diamond Turned, a unique front grille with Titan grille mesh, a bright chrome grille ‘U’ edge and black grille surround. Side vents have a new mesh set off by bright chrome bars and a black vent surround. There are body coloured door handles and of course, the tailgate badge, 'Autobiography Black'.

Inside, there’s a choice of the standard colourway in Jet, or two colourways unique to the Autobiography Black – Jet and Ivory, or Jet and Pimento. The Autobiography Black logo is discretely repeated throughout the interior where it is embossed on the rear seat armrest and appears on the four unique, Grand Black door veneers. Front door sill tread plates are illuminated with the words ‘Range Rover’ and there’s a half wood Grand Black steering wheel. Petrol models also offer gearknob veneers.

Around 700 will be made, emphasising the exclusivity of this limited edition.”

“The 2011 Range Rover retains its position as one of the world's most complete luxury vehicles. Its combination of reduced CO2 emissions and superior engine performance continue to make it a clear industry benchmark. And with the introduction of our all-new 'super diesel', we see the Range Rover delivering over 30mpg for the first time.”
Phil Popham, Land Rover Managing Director

A new, class-leading V8 diesel engine, new 8-speed transmission, two significant Terrain Response® upgrades and subtle external styling all combine to ensure the 2011 Range Rover retains its crown as king of the luxury SUV segment.

The LR-TDV8 4.4-litre with parallel sequential turbocharging replaces the outstanding LR-TDV8 3.6-litre and is unique to the Range Rover. An all-new ‘super-diesel’, the LR-TDV8 combines superior power and massive torque with unparalleled levels of refinement. Despite the extra performance, this sublime V8 engine is cleaner too, delivering even lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions than its predecessor and meeting the stringent EU5 emissions standards. The headline news, though, is that the combined cycle fuel consumption of the new LR-TDV8 4.4-litre is just 30.1mpg, making this the first Range Rover ever to better 30mpg.

With 313PS and 700Nm torque, the Range Rover’s new powertrain matches power with conscience, reducing CO2 emissions by an impressive 14 percent. The new diesel engine is helped in this respect by its marriage to an impressive new, electronically controlled, ZF 8HP70, 8-speed automatic gearbox tuned by Land Rover engineers to combine silky smooth shifting with exceptionally rapid response and outstanding fuel economy. This daunting combination is enough to catapult the Range Rover from rest to 60mph in a mere 7.5 seconds and complete the 50mph-75mph dash in just 5.1 seconds.

Available only on 4.4-litre LR-TDV8 models, this ‘smart’ transmission integrates with the diesel engine to deliver the most efficient operating regime in all conditions. To reflect the performance of the new 4.4-litre LR-TDV8, diesel models are fitted with the same Brembo-based braking system fitted to the 5.0-litre LR-V8 supercharged model. Providing the immense stopping power required for only the highest performing vehicles, the system comprises 380mm ventilated front discs with unique, lightweight aluminium six-piston opposed action monoblock calipers. 365mm ventilated discs with single piston sliding calipers are fitted at the rear.

For 2011, the Range Rover retains the same class-leading 5.0-litre LR-V8, supercharged petrol engine married to the ZF HP28 6-speed automatic transmission introduced in 2010. Developing 510PS and 625Nm torque the Supercharged LR-V8 will take the Range Rover from 0-60mph in a breath-taking 5.9 seconds.

The 2011 Range Rover is further enhanced by improvements to the Terrain Response® system in the form of Hill Start Assist and Gradient Acceleration Control. Inside the cabin there are optional illuminated treadplates for the front doors, new transmission controls for the diesel model, and improvements to the entertainment system. Detail improvement to the exterior include new ‘Jupiter’ grilles and side vents for the diesel models.

A new Exterior Design Pack option gives customers the chance to give their Range Rover a more individual look and new colours and wheels have been added to the range.
