Land Rover Training Programme Supports Fleet and Business

With many Land Rover dealerships making a fresh start in Fleet and Business Sales, Mark Nicholas, the Dealer Principal of Barretts has been taking a keen interest in the training and support provided to his team.  It may still be early days but the consensus is that Land Rover’s Corporate Dealer Programme, renamed the Fleet & Business Sales Programme is delivering on its promise.

The Barretts Group was one of the last to join the programme and Dealer Principal, Mark Nicholas is pleased with the training and work done so far.  “It’s been spot on,’” he says.  “I feel sure that the training and support given will make the programme a great success.  We know it will not happen overnight, but so far so good.”



One of the crucial elements is the selection of the right Corporate Dealer Manager (CDM), says Mark.  Barretts has recruited Tristram Day, who brings four years’ corporate sales experience at Audi to the role. “The main thing I’ve noticed is the attitude” he says.  “Barretts and Land Rover both want to do it right.  The support has been great: Land rover is passionate about making it work at the dealership level and very clear about the commitments both sides have signed up to.”

Just three weeks in the job and Tristram has already sold his first car, a Freelander, prospecting the customer form a data list.  “I’ve learned quickly that you can’t stereotype a Land Rover customer like you can with other brands. The training has helped with this: it really took me out of my comfort zone.”
