AN INVITATION TO THE 36th WALMER HORSE AND DOG SHOW – SUNDAY 16 JUNE
The
Walmer Horse and Dog Show returns to Walmer Castle on Sunday 16 June
for the 36th year and the Show organisers will be pleased to welcome
you. Last year the Show committee was delighted to make significant
donations to our chosen charities, thanks to the support of our many
competitors and local business sponsors. We presented £1,300 to the
Martha Trust and £500 to the Lord Whisky Sanctuary Fund. We also
supported Joanne Dare who ran the London Marathon this year in aid of
Action on Pre-Eclampsia.
We have again been well
supported by local businesses, by family sponsors and by advertisers,
notably Barretts Land Rover who are our headline sponsors this year. We
are grateful also to English Heritage who have made the grounds of
Walmer Castle available and we thank them for their co-operation and
hospitality.
The event has been made possible by many
local sponsors including our main ring sponsors; the White Mill
Veterinary Centre, Hamilton Grove Ltd, Simon Phillips Hay and Straw and
Barville Farm. The dressage competition is sponsored by The Riding Habit
in Eastry, in memory of Alison Small who died suddenly last summer. The
Dog Show is sponsored by CobbyDog. These and the many individual class
sponsors have underwritten the Show costs such that the majority of the
entry fees will be available to support the chosen charities. We are
most grateful to them.
The Show committee is again led
by Show Director, Jamie Sheehy and the other directors Mary Bowden, Pam
Steed and Simon Pollard. The competitive schedule is similar to last
year’s and may be found on our website
www.thewalmerhorseanddogshow.co.uk.
The Horse Show
starts on Sunday morning at 9:00 with a sequence of jumping competitions
designed to test riders of increasing competence, through fun
combination events to the prestigious Open Jumping event. In the show
rings, also starting at 9:00 the competitions cater for young riders and
handlers through family events to the formal dressage classes. A fancy
dress competition completes the range of activities.
The
Dog Show starts at 1:00 in the afternoon and features a range of
classes for pedigree and novelty dogs. Entries will be taken from 11:30
in the morning.
Trade and catering stalls complete the
day’s offer. So please come along to support the Show, whether as a
competitor or as a spectator. There is no entry fee to the Show grounds
and parking is also free. Those interested in competing may see the full
schedule on the Show’s website,
www.thewalmerhorseanddogshow.co.uk. The
printed schedule is now also published and can be found in the majority
of local riding centres and tack shops.
